Amanda joined LBVC in 2013 as a beginner, after first playing beach at SideOut Beach Volleyball Training Camp in Rhodes, Greece in 2012. Originally from South Africa, Amanda now calls London home after working and living in the city for the last 15 years.
Her career as an IT professional, lead to her first volunteer role for LBVC in 2013 as Communications and Technology Officer. In 2014, Amanda assumed the role of Chair. Amanda is deeply passionate about game and spends most of her free time playing or training. When not on the sand, Amanda enjoys attending music festivals, travelling and cooking. Her three passions in life are beach volleyball, music and technology.
Leaving behind her passion for hockey, Ruth joined LBVC in 2013. Yes, we have lured many different sports people onto the sand! Ruth is originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland and is a confirmed Londoner since moving here over 15 years ago.
She has two beautiful children and works at University College London, co-ordinating funding bids for research in personalised medicine.
When not on the sand, Ruth enjoys running, skiing, and hanging out with her friends and family.
During 2014, Ruth helped out at club tournaments and events. We are very excited to announce that Ruth has joined LBVC committee as the Club Secretary and is already working hard at keeping our meeting minutes in check and has completed the clubs accreditation with Volleyball England for 2015.

When not on the sand, Antonella enjoys working on her PhD project in Astrophysics, playing indoor volleyball, listening to rock music and playing board games.

Antonella volunteered last year for LBVC and organised our first Aperitif Night Tournament at SideOut Beach. In Italy this style of tournament is a regular occurrence. Even though the weather gods were not kind and there was a heavy rain for most of the tournament it was enjoyed by the London Beach Volleyball Community who are not afraid of a bit of rain.
Clare has been a member of LBVC since 2009, apart from a short interlude when she lived and worked in Brussels for two years. Chris is one of LBVC’s founding members, helping to set up the club with Lenore Gerschwitz in 2006. During his time on the committee, he has been responsible for the Shoreditch Court which was set up by him and others in 2005 with the help of Hackney Council. It was London’s first public sand court.
In 2014 Chris re-joined the committee as the Shoreditch Park Court Co-coordinator working with Hackney Council to complete the refurbishment of the Shoreditch Park Court.
Chris is currently volunteering on the Shoreditch Park Improvement Project for London Beach Volleyball Club.
When not on the sand, Chris enjoys politics and gardening.
Laying down the soundtrack behind the UK’s top Beach Volleyball beach tournaments and social events, including last year’s Volleyball England Beach Tour. When not behind the decks, camera or on the sand, Matt enjoys comedy, science and Manchester United.
Vickie has been a LBVC member for 1 year. Originally from Hong Kong, Vickie has an amazing energy both off and on the court. When not on the sand, Vickie enjoys trying out London’s foodie destinations and traveling.

On the 30th June 2015, with record temperatures of 32 degrees LBVC help Hoxton Garden School to kick off their Keeping Health Week with beach taster sessions for 150 school children aged 6 to 11 years old.
Heiner Alzate and Martina Janečková along with the teacher from the school ran the day at our court in Shoreditch Park. It goes without saying a big thank you to the volunteers especially Heiner who coached the sessions. Thank you to SideOut who lent us beach volleyballs for the day.
“Just wanted to say another massive thank you for your work on Tuesday. The children absolutely loved it”.
